The CrossFit Games 2021 are on the horizon, and many of the participants are incredibly excited. Other than the traditional CrossFit Games, events for women will be held. You've heard of the Reebok equipment, the Pegboard contest and the Cutting system. But do you know what to expect from the women's competition? Continue reading to find out! Women's competition

The 2021 Crossfit Games women's competition opened this morning with a swim event. Jonne Koski and Tia-Clair Toomey Orr won the first event. After maintaining her lead throughout competition, Koski was declared the overall winner. Tall and Eramoo Connell were second and third, each. It was the women's first event in the Games and the women's side was hoping to complete the podium.

The women's contest is filled with high-level athletes. The field includes nine athletes. One of them is a 19-year old powerhouse, who won the Australian competition last year. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Another rising star is Andrea Nisler, who competed in the team division in 2018 and finished third in the United States and fifteenth overall in 2020. This competition will include these athletes and Sara Sigmundsdottir of Iceland, a newcomer to Crossfit. She won the first place Medal at the World Crossfit Games earlier.

Pegboard contest

Pegboard contest at Crossfit Games 2121 was a new concept. It was also added to the Games' Olympic summer program. Toomey-Orr set the record for most wins in a single Games event with 30. Sager won Event 11 (for men) and was awarded his third Games win. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

Athletes train for the CrossFit Games by focusing on ten general physical fitness skills: cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, and agility. Pegboard competition tests competitors' grip strength, coordination, and speed. The competitors compete by holding two wooden stakes between their fingers. The competition was fierce and the athletes felt a sense accomplishment after finishing the Pegboard.


Cutting system

CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. This is not as extreme as past Games cuts, but it is very different this year. Because the competition is made up of 15 events, a cut to 30 athletes after the seventh or eighth event is very likely. Another question remains: how will CrossFit adjust the points spread following cuts? The scoring table used during the 2019 games was almost identical to that used in 2021. It is likely that this will continue.

This year's CrossFit Games team includes 236 competitors, making it the largest ever. The six first events lead to major cuts. The field is reduced to 75 athletes. To determine the top ten, the top 30 athletes compete in a sprint tandem. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system was criticized by veterans Games participants who felt the cuts were too large.

Reebok's equipment

Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. Nano X1 will be the new shoes. They are designed to suit multiple fitness requirements. Reebok describes this shoe as the "shoe of fitness", but it actually feels more like an ordinary training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar, which promotes durability, breathability, and strength, is the shoe's upper. The shoes' responsiveness is enhanced thanks to the RopePro tech and the firm midsole.
